I enjoy all types of shoots, but I think newborns may be the most rewarding. Every day little ones grow and change so quickly! Usually at the time that I deliver the final prints, my beautiful little subject looks so different and more grown up, then they did just a few weeks before. It’s quite obvious that the precious stage we captured (the evidence of which I am at that point, holding in my hands) has forever come and gone. It makes all the work feel worthwhile. It’s an honor to be a small part of those crazy, tiring, and special first days – celebrating a new life!

The day that we had scheduled Cayla’s newborn shoot, ended up being one of the only cold, rainy, and windy days of the summer. We thought the weather might break, so we decided to give it a go. Cayla was a good sport, and though the weather chased us inside, we were able to get a few nice shots. Such a beatiful little girl!

If you follow my work, you may remember this family from their session that we captured over a year ago (Baer Family).  Those pictures were taken the day prior to their departure for Ethiopia, where they were beginning a long term ministry.    They were able to make it home this year for a visit, and I had the honor of taking their pictures the day before they were to fly out again.   I was completely taken by how calm and composed this family was; just hours before they would leave for another two year stay in Ethiopia.  They are most certainly gifted for all they have been called to do!  If you would like to support or learn more about their ministry check them out at  Six Baer Essentials.
